According to the audience sign-in sheet, 123 people identified themselves as favoring the Sweeps, and 225 wrote they were against it. A total of 1,295 names from various petitions were submitted in support; opposition forces’ petitions showed only 80 signatures, all from local churches.

He was quiet, thoughtful, and wonderfully studious. Even as a child, he was a voracious reader and collected books.
